Custom Blinds in London, Ontario: What Homeowners Ask Us
London is the far end of our service area and home to some of our most interesting projects: condos with walls of glass, new subdivisions with two-storey windows, and smart homes wired for motorized shades.

In short
- Condo boards often have rules about what shows from outside. Check them before choosing colours.
- Floor-to-ceiling condo glass suits screen shades, usually paired with blackout in bedrooms.
- Big windows in newer neighbourhoods are easiest to manage motorized.
- Free in-home visits cover London, St. Thomas, Lambeth, Komoka and Strathroy.

Condos: check the rules first
Many condominium corporations have rules about window coverings, most often that the side facing the street must be white or a neutral colour so the building looks uniform. Some also have rules about installation hours, elevator bookings and drilling into concrete. Ask your property manager for the window covering rules before you choose fabrics, and bring them to the consultation. We'll pick fabrics with a compliant backing and plan the install around the building.
Condo windows are often floor-to-ceiling. Screen shades keep the city view by day, and a blackout shade on a second bracket handles the bedroom at night. Battery or solar motors work well in condos because they need no wiring.

Newer neighbourhoods
London's newer subdivisions, and growing communities such as Lambeth and Komoka, are full of homes with two-storey great rooms, arched windows and wide patio doors. A few rules of thumb:
- Motorize anything you can't reach and group shades so a whole wall moves together. See are motorized blinds worth it.
- Keep one cassette colour across an open-concept floor.
- Arched windows can be left open above a shade, or framed with drapery. See arched, tall and two-storey windows.
Smart homes
More of the homes we see around London are built smart from day one. Our motorized shades work with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings, and we integrate with whole-home systems such as Control4, Crestron and Savant. If you're building, plan the wiring before drywall: see pre-wiring for motorized shades.
St. Thomas and Strathroy
St. Thomas has plenty of older brick homes with tall windows, which suit Roman shades, zebra blinds and drapery mounted high. Strathroy has a mix of older homes and new builds. In both, we measure every window ourselves and handle out-of-square frames the same way we do in our Windsor guide.
What London homeowners choose most
- Screen shades for views and home offices.
- Zebra blinds for living rooms that change light through the day.
- Blackout roller shades and layered drapery for bedrooms.
- Motorized shades for anything above arm's reach.
Condo installation day
- Tell us your building's rules (elevator bookings, work hours, floor protection) and we plan the installation around them.
- Concrete ceilings and walls need the right drill bits and anchors, which we bring.
- We protect floors and ledges while we work and take the packaging away.
- Motorized shades are paired with your phone or hub before we leave.
Smart shades without wiring
Most condos can't open walls or ceilings, which is why our wireless smart motors are popular there. They deliver 2 Nm of torque, run quietly, work with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings, and need no wiring. Every motor and its programming is covered by our full 3-year in-house warranty.
Booking from London

Common questions
Do you really come to London from Harrow?
Yes. London, St. Thomas, Lambeth, Komoka and Strathroy are part of our regular service area, and the in-home consultation is free.
Can you work within our condo's window covering rules?
Yes. Share the rules with us and we will choose fabrics and backings that comply, and plan the install around the building.
Can you motorize shades in a condo without rewiring?
Yes. Battery and solar motors need no wiring, so they suit condos where you can’t open walls or ceilings.
Do I need a hub for smart shades in a condo?
Usually not. The handheld remote works on its own, and many condo owners already have what app and voice control need, such as a smart speaker. We check what you have during the visit and set everything up.
